Bigdaddysmon - woot for your hatch! I'm glad to hear you have a couple chicks with more to come!

Deerling - that's really too bad about about your crumby landlord. Since most of your complaints were based on verbal conversations I don't think there is much you can do. He sounds like a slumlord and I would suggest getting any agreement from now forward in writing. Beautiful coop too! I hope it is portable in case you decide to move.

More updates tonight... I've been on OC with family and fly back today! I've missed my chickies, oh yeah, and DH.

Congrats on the new chicks hatching!!! And, Ron, your chicks are adorable!

I took my Australorps and Black Penes outside yesterday!

The little one in the middle is a two week old Black Pene. The Australorps are three weeks old.

What a Ham this one is!

A week makes a big difference in Size!

I have a video encoding and will post it when it is ready!(kidding here--The Australorps are big old Show Quality birds. The Black Pene on the right will get big for a Pene but will not be like an Australorp).

Oh my goodness Ron! They are perfectly adorable!

Hi Everybody.

Well, I have here two chicks out of my first test run of the refurbished Sportsman incubator. These are from the Silky Rooster "Owl" that I got from Chiqita at the Stockton show.. and the Silkies/Sizzles I got from SilkesForever.

Anyway - my math must have been off, because they were "due" to hatch Tuesday - I thought. One hatched yesterday and the other hatched this morning. I have one more pipping in there, and I think UP (the first out) is looking for his cheeping buddy because he is LOUD!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD WARNING!

One more pip and 5 more eggs in there.. we will see..
Oh My! They are so cute!!! Congrats!

Ok I have 3 eggs due Monday. One hatched today. 2 still have not pipped. That chick is there peeping it's head off. It's in my bedroom in the bator still. Oh Lordy is it loud. Is it going to be ok in there alone? And should I be worried that the other 2 have no pips yet?

Here is a pic of what i guess is my bantam Wyandotte and sizzle cross. Darn sneaky sizzle rooster.

Trying not to be too bummed.
Go Amy go! Hatching eggs is fun!

Yeah! Woke up to these three! One is from the shipped eggs. Another one of the shipped eggs is pipped and the one OE from my Blue Copper Marans covered by my Silver Ameraucana has also pipped. The four that hatched last hatch were all Blues with nicely feathered feet so I wanted another (I only kept one).
Yay they're coming!!! Congrats!

Ron they are so adorable!! The one in the last picture is HUGE!!

Love your coop. Lots of room for many chickens.. :)

x2   :thumbsup

Ditto!

 I've been meaning to ask you (and anyone else close to me), which feed store do you go to? I usually go to the one in Granite Bay, but they are super expensive. I've been to the one in Rio Linda, and their feed is much cheaper, but they seem to know nothing about chickens, or the types of feed they have.

Not that close to you, but I highly recommend Bradshaw Feed at Bradshaw & Florin Roads. Dunno if they have King Feed but they carry Nutrena All Flock - and other formulations, plus other brands - which is what I feed ny flock. Dunno if they are Quail knowledgeable, though.

But I love that feed store and its employees.

5 Pita Pinta's out! And 10 Basque's out! Woohoo! I see at least 4 more zipping. There are so many chicks in that incubator right now. I keep talking to them to get off the eggs that are trying to hatch.. it's not really working though. Ha! I can't wait to get them out there and give them some love!
