California - Northern

Interesting. it looks like its lavender cuckoo almost.
I thought cuckoo was double barred partridge like crele is.

pretty though
I don't know lol! I'm confused about it. But this is what Bryce from ewe crazy farms sold them to me as. "Isabel partridge cuckoo orpingtons." The cockerel has more obvious barring and the hen is more of the buff coloring. Ill have to take some pics in the sun

Not to make you choose anything, but breese are wonderful elegant birds that are great layers who mature fast! you can just also eat them. They are not a meat bird in the traditional sense. ( fat and messy with no personality and no movement)

The longer I have them, they more I like them, so I'm bias :)

I was thinking the same thing tonight. I have 5 pullets here and they are really something. They really are Dual Purpose. One of mine lays a very nice speckled egg.

They are not Meat chickens.

They are difficult, I sold a "most likely pullet" which turned out to be a boy. I also bought a three month old pullet, which turned out to be a boy. They are not an easy breed to sex. Good luck.

My last hatch was a few weeks ago and I'm greedily hanging on to them, crele orpingtons!

DH has been trying to convince me to put a (literally) two gallon bucket full of eggs into the incubator. We just moved 98 chicks out of the brooders and into the first stage indoor pen. Most of them are big enough they could be thrown in with their parents.

NO CHICKS!!!

But you do have eggs available???? I just bought a used cabinet hatcher/incubator and I need to find some fertile eggs for a first run. There is a chance that we are coming up your way on Saturday to visit our friends in Placerville who bought chickens from you. I would love to buy a few eggs from you!

I love my Bresse, too! They are friendly and curious. I have 12 juveniles out at the farm and 10 here in town. Plus, my two broodies have hatched 3 Bresse along with 3 mixed breeds.

One of your Bresse lays a speckled egg? I have 2 hens at the farm. One lays a light brown egg and the other lays a cream egg. It will be interesting to see what color the young ones lay. We are planning on keeping most of the pullets that we have hatched and 1 or 2 of the cockerels.

I'm itching for chicks. Does anyone have any babies available right now?

I will in about 2 weeks. Polish, EE, OE, Black and Blue Copper Marans.

I'm also kind of hoarding them! I'm going to hatch one more batch after this one and keep most of them so I can have pullets to sell next year. I've noticed people are asking for pullets and don't mind paying for them as long as they don't have to brood them.

How bout Serama eggs Deb. Do you have any for sale? I made a post a few days ago but I think it got missed. Thanks.

Let me check to see. I believe they are still laying, but DH has been doing all the egg collecting. We haven't been marking anything because I was resisting setting any eggs right now.

I do have eggs, LOTS. Unfortunately I'm on my way out of town tomorrow and won't be back for two weeks. When I do get back, I'll be home for three weeks, then heading out again for another two.

On chicks, I do plan to hatch some chicks during the window I'm home. I have lots of people looking for Iowa Blue chicks because of the recent article in the poultry magazine featuring them. I could put in some other eggs to hatch, but they have to go in tonight, I'm leaving in the morning. I'll get home just in time to lock them down.
