Working with the different Polish colors, what do you think about the color on the chick with the black crest that has chocolate and gold coloring? She (?) is a cross of a buff laced rooster over either my WC blue cuckoo hen or WC Dun cuckoo hen. I was hoping for coloring similar to your birds

The are all pretty. I bet the dark one gets some interesting lacing as it matures. You can already see the lacing on its neck.

Well since I only spelled it with one n it does make it a name more than a description. :D   Canibal.

Look at all those pretty eggs she was hiding.

It's okay,we don't judge here.....

You know on the Show us Your Inventions thread someone uses one of those dog ball throwers.  You know the one that hangs on to a tennis ball and it has a long handle and then you can chuck the ball really far???  They use that to reach in under the broody hens and pick up the eggs.   I think I may have to try something like that.

Godiva the Sweet Chocolate Rock.  Is she going to lay a special chocolate easter eggs?

You know if you ever had to process a bird with a name and breed like this one, I would say the only appropriate way to eat it would be as Chicken Mole.  Are you familiar with Mole?  We call it chocolate chicken at our house when we have it.....

Not that you would ever dream of eating your pet of course.........   But the whole Godiva, Chocolate Chicken thing had me thinking along those lines.  Yeah I know I am tired.  Beyond tired really.

I was trying to think of a new nickname for my nephew who has been schlepping helping me move.  His name is Jay (which is already a nick name) but as a child we called him Jay Bird.  Now that he is 23, Jay Bird is a little embarrassing for him.  So as I was thinking, I started thinking about (just for fun of course) something like Jay-Nizzle.  Then I thought nah that is too long, and shortened it to Jizzle......... needless to say he prefers Jay Bird at this point!
Haha ali that's funny :) poor guy

Well, its is 3:30 in the morning. I was woken up by the rain and remembered that there was still feed on the back of the truck. urg. Yep, I was too lazy to unload it so I figured there is always tomorrow. Ooops. So guess what I did at 2:30 in morning. Yep unloaded a truck in my jammies. Super fun. Now, I am wide awake, drinking tea and catching up with yall. : )

Good Morning!

No rain in Woodland yet. I should set up the coops for rain though(use the coop feeders)

I've done that. Now I take the mini-van, it's easier to unload also.

This is a NICE rain! It woke me up at 3:30, too, but then lulled me back to sleep. I love rain.

Just let the flock out of the coop and you should have seen the rush of birds stampede out the door then start milling around in confusion. Hehehehehehe. The ducks and geese do not coop up, so they were waiting to go IN for their breakfast.

Oh, and the six chickens which sleep in the old apple tree decided they might like to go inside, too.

Traffic jam at the coop door. Silly birds.

He is so cute!!! We were thinking about making a day trip up to your area to visit friends but I think not if it is raining. Is it supposed to rain all day in your area?

Good day all! I am in the Sierra foothills. Specifically North Auburn. Highway 50 is my families line between north and central California. Up here we have to prepare our livestock for the on coming weather the day before. That includes my 4 ducks and 15 chickens. Because I don't wantto loose any of my livestock this winter and this being my first time owning ducks will they be OK with snow cold temps?
