UCD just sent me the October News letter from CAHFS, the place that we send dead birds in for Necropsy.
I called them up to get the exact name of the test. I had them also test for coccidiosis. The sample is gathered fresh in the morning and try to get sample from more than one chicken. They emailed the results to me in two days.
Do not use USPS to ship.
Happy Saturday!

It varies from month to month based on your usage and cost per watt.Do heat lamps use much electricity?
Quote: I read it too. Really interesting information. The donkeys surprised me though.
I am finally getting back to this now that I have a second to breathe. Not really, but I am making a second. Does it have to be SUPER fresh? I picked up whatever was in the tray from the last three days, but now I see that may not be fresh enough. I am always running in the morning to get my daughter to school, let the chickens out, give them their food, yada yada yada. You know the morning routines... I am sure you have one. I am just not a morning person, so I am always rushing. Plus I only had ONE shoe this morning. How is it that stuff gets packed in different places when you move?
Anyway I picked up a big old pile of it too! Because you never know when you might not have enough chicken poop on hand!![]()
I guess I can throw out what I collected and get tomorrow mornings........![]()
Beautiful pictures Nikon!
MossyOak - how's the baby this morning?
So far so good. She was not ready to hatch, so most definitely squished by mama. Last night, after peeling some shell off the membrane I could see her umbilical cord was still attached. So I stuck her in a soup mug to finish off. This morning it has almost detached and she is peepin very loudly and moving around quite a bit, so I am taking this as a good sign. I also gave her a little drop of poly-vi-sol on her beak last night to give her a little extra oomph.
We have cats, and I was very worried about the safety of the brooder box with no lid, so I stuck the other one that hatched in the incubator last night, since it has a lid. I will get some pictures today.
I cannot believe she kicked 2 babies out of the nest. The first one she actually picked up by the toe and tossed to the corner after I tried to stick it back under her.
We have 3 more bresse pips. I am a bit worried, as at least one of those pips was there yesterday afternoon, and there has been no more progress since. I guess we will see what happens.
