Here is what I set aside to hatch. I have most of them in my pics, not sure if I have the ameracaunas on there tho.

hopefully this image showed up. This is what I was going to set. It will show you the darkest I'm getting with my blues. You could get black, blue or splash colors. I am so curious what the lavender ameracauna/blue copper marans would look lik

Yes that was me :) I wanted to give my broody some good chicks, and I am super excited!! Thank you so much chiqita :) My husband was laughing that I was telling him about these birds. He doesn't know it will mean more coop building, haha! I just emailed you before I saw this, wondering if they took them. You helped me out so much. After I get this wedding cake done, I'll be free and clear to come get them when they hatch.
How much are the bags and barrels of these feeds? I get mine from Modesto miling @ $25/bag . It's (50 lbs)organic, but I try to make a multi errand trip out of it.
HA! I thought it was you :). I replied to the email too. Its a crazy week this week, we are finally making some movement on the 1/2 done kitchen and I have to stain and waterlox the countertops! bad timing with the weather, but It wont get better this year, so im chop chopping. I was trying to remember how to apply the waterlox stain after waiting a year between doing the first one and these, and saw all the pictures of people doing their butcherblock, and I am excited again!

We pay 85 per drum ( 55gal?? dont remember) it comes out to about 14 per bag for 20% . I'm not 100% sure because its by volume not weight.

Now back to cleaning out the garage so we can move quail inside for the winter!

Only because I want them to lay. Easier to control lights they were not fond of mood lighting in January
Oh, good! I wasn't looking forward to telling George that they need to be in the garage for the winter. That would mean building another pen! I have 12 Bobwhites (only 3 are female) and he has been talking about processing all of them. I'm negotiating to keep 5 at least through one egg laying season.

I am going to string some white led christmas lights out to a pen and use a timer for them. I need my Dark egg layers to start laying...Yes I need those eggs!

That's a good idea and very festive! My 2 story quail pen is on my back patio so it would look cute with Christmas lights! Thank you for the idea!

Christmas lights ( ie mood lighting) works for most chickens, but my quail didn't respond. The silkies also needed a BIT more light ( tube lighting worked, twinkle lights did not) The LF seemed to be fine with christmas lights. They all seem to think differently about it!
