@alibra

Any others?
I was hoping to place a NorCal Marin/sonoma orders and there was some interested. However, I have since decided I do not need any more chicks. ..Yikes, I can't believe I said that. ... @lawatt wanted to go in on that order so I will let her know. Was there anyone else in Nor. Cal that wanted chicks from Urch?

Thanks but count me out Ron. I have a Mottled Java contact named Mickey Clayton in Oregon who worked on the ALBC Mottled Java restoration project. I'll be getting eggs from her when I have a broody for them. I wish I was ordering babies but I am going to roll the dice on hatching eggs again.
That is fine!

I may just order a couple dozen of hatching eggs...I am a hatch addict after all....

hey guys -- i am still interested in getting some silver campine chicks (or eggs, if they are packed okay) IF there's space in someone's order -- i'm flexible as to how many i get, and will be fine to get none, too, if it doesn't work out. I only have a trio of campines, and thought it would be nice to add some more genetic diversity, but if its too much trouble, i can easily wait on that.

Since I'm not getting a response over on the Marans thread, and everyone here is so helpful. Could I get an honest critique of these birds as they might be judged.
The Blue hen has on average laid 3 eggs per week through winter like the picture below. Also would like to know if this is average, better or worse.
Thank you

The color on the left egg is a bit light. The eggs are supposed to be a 5 on the Marans scale as a minimum. They may be lighter because they are at the end of a laying cycle? The egg on the right is very nice.

This is a picture of Marans eggs from the Heirloom Festival in Sanoma, Fall of 2012

See, Your egg fits right in!

The Blue pullet is gorgeous!

Three eggs a week is good for any breed in the winter.

Eggchel-

That's what I was going to say- that describes the central VALLEY.

Being one from NORTH of eureka....I also have to laugh regularly when the San Fran and Sacramento folks say they're in northern Cali!!!!!  Which is why under my name, I said I was fromWAY north coastal CALI!

ANYHOW...another BYC member from Eureka once said she's from "the TRUE northern California"...I'd have to agree.  Funny thing is....there's more North than even me!  Way up there an hours drive is crescent city and then another 15minutes drive to the Oregon border.

Hard for small state folks (especially easterners) to understand how large cali REALLY is!  If they drove all day, they could go through several states, and we could still be in the same state ALL DAY.  I've driven from the Eureka area to LA.....took ALL day (14 hours back then), and there's at least a hour more on each end!

I was raised in Cali from 1969-1983 lived in southern and central. After I "grew up" I became a Truck driver (yes I'm a female who can drive an 80,000 lb machine), I used to beg for loads to Cali! All other drivers hated "going out there" lol. By the way I live in WV now.

Ron is it your Birthday? if so Happy Birthday
