Love them! What are they?

They are all supposed to be Black Copper Marans, but they were ordered from Ebay and shipped (my very first time with shipped eggs) Most of them looked right but there were 2 that looked more blue and one was very red with chipmunk stripes. (the single chicks the pictures). They may have been other varieties of Marans, but the lady did not communicate well. I emailed about the oddball ones and she never replied on what they might be. Unfortunately I lost all but one of the BC Marans to a skunk that got into the pen so we never got to see how they turned out. It didn't eat them, just killed them and left them under the shed that borders the pen on one side. They were too far back for us to be able to reach them. We were reminded of the massacre for about 3 months by the smell. Poor little things.

Sorry that I missed you at Stockton Kim. I saw you but I was up to my ears in questions at the time.

Crevecors are the only Polish type chicken with red ear lobes, the rest have white ear lobes.

I casually asked mario to grab a tub of marcaspone for a recipe last nigjt. After recovering from the price I have 2/3 of a tub of expensive cheese I was going to try and not waste. Anyone have any great pasta or dinner recipes that will make me happy I spent double digits on a tub of cheese?
Marcaspone is simple and much less expensive to make yourself, rather than buy. Google it for recipes. I made my own and used it in this recipe:

whenever i want to be truly indulgent, i make mashed potatoes & put mascarpone on them instead of butter or etc. -- absolute heaven. similarly amazing with plain polenta.

Yes I saw that while searching this morning! I will make it next time because it was good with the creamed spinach. I am very picky about that stuff!

I will try this recipe too. Mario is also going out to get crumpets for said cheese.

He also found a recipe for marcaspone pasta egg and shaved fresh truffles. I told him he should just replace the pasta in that with shredded 100 bills.

seriously, it's such delicious stuff that i don't bother "hiding" it in recipes -- just put it on whatever you've got (rice, bread, mashed potatoes). dreamy.

Do you ever see any Crevecoeurs at the shows? My girl is 5 years old and came from McMurray hatchery. It would be nice to know if there are breeders breeding to the SOP.

According to the Livestock Conservancy, Crevecoeurs are on the critical list which is unfortunate because they are lovely birds. My girl is super friendly and level headed, unlike some of my Polish.

You might try Duane Urch. He is the only one that might have the real deal.
