They move the eggs around. They can even get them up chicken ladders.

California Greys!!! I have 4 different white egg laying breeds...on is not a breed but a cross and the CG is far and away the easiest most fun and sweetest girl.

I have a friend whose BR (feed store) lays a huge chalk white egg??? Funniest thing

CA Greys could easily be mistaken as BRs as chicks and older to someone who thinks every cuckoo or barred is a BR. They lay a HUGE chalk white egg.

I have some chicks coming from Privett Hatchery in NM. Supposed to arrive today but are still in San Jose so maybe Saturday morning. I'm not sure what their condition will be being late. Need advice on any special care since they will be longer in shipment.

I sure hope they are fine. Nutridrench is great. You can give it in the water and dip beaks or you can put a drop or two on the beaks of droopy birds! My birds from Privett arrived hail and hearty. Hope they are all 100%

Bad pic but here they are. I took the two Bantam eggs from the first time broody and left the 3 LF eggs under her. It is day 18. Both are more developed than they were Tuesday night and we saw the chick moving in one of them...the one closer to the top of the pic. Mama is a D'Uccle daddy is a white silkie.

Temp is good, Humidity is 55% right now. I added water and am giving it a little time. I know in general eggs will bring up the temp in the bator but I didn't know if just two little ones like these would. Anyway I will check before bed.

Ron ...I should have figured with them being a med. breed but I didn't think about Pita Pintas being a white egg layer. I still may solicit your hatching services regardless.

Not sure what breed yet because yes I want them all too!

Pita pintas lay a brown egg--looks like an RIR, Bard Rock and etc.

The only one that lays white is the Dorking. What I should have said was I am giving up on white egg layers and working with the Pita Pintas, which are brown layers.

Pita Pintas and Basque are called Atlantic chickens. They do not have the high energy characteristics of the Mediterranean breeds. They have wide bodies and grow quickly.

Basque are friendly but the Ptia Pintas are like calm dogs. They quietly walk right up to you and the pullets are very quiet. The boys are real characters and are more vocal but even their crows are not high pitched like the Mediterranean breeds.

They do share their heat hardiness though, which makes them nice to have here where some breeds have a hard time in the summer.
