When medicating finches in water, it is common practice to remove all water at lights out, then put it back in the morning with the medication added. They are usually more thirsty by then and will take in more.

\ I sooo wanted to meet eveyone that went to the show, but had nooo idea how to find anyone. I had my 81 year old Mom with me, who picked a seat for the 4-H showmanship that was ping on when we arrived. I didn't want to leave her alone too long and neither of us can spend a long time on our feet. I was able to track down Walt and introduced myself to him. He was busy judging so we only talked for a minute. Very nice guy!

It would have been really easy to spot me. I was the only young girl with long hair that had a camera around her neck or in front of her face the entire time

You take great pictures too! I was supposed to meet there with someone to get @Chic CAN 's English Orph pullets but was having messaging issues on my phone. She ended up being sick and didn't come, but was fine with me picking them up at her house....they she texted that one of the 2 pullets looked like it got stepped on and was not doing well so she didn't want to sell that one. I was only able to pick up one, but she looks good. I will meet up with Chic CAN on the 10th for delivery!

Thank you very much!
You have a little pullet and you haven't posted pictures of her? C'mon now... :) I want to see!

@chiqita
@juststruttin
@bayocum

Or anyone else with Bresse.

The egg farmer had a Predator and of course the pretty white AM Bresse Roosters are gone now.

He will replace one, mostly because he wants me to hatch eggs from them!

I am looking for a Rooster or Cockerel of Breeding age. He will travel to pick one up.

Send me a PM if you can help.

Thanks!

I forgot I came on to tell this neat idea i heard today!

For chickens who are drinking but mot eating.five them fresh veggie juice! Someone has a duck that ate a string and it is not in her croup and she iant eating. I suggested sugar for calories ams someone said their vet said juice. O thought it was brilliant.

That is an excellent idea. Lots of easily digestible nutrients in juice too.

No Silkie gene.....

Thanks for sharing
oh Lordy is it Cam Pee Nay or something??? I have been pronouncing it in my head like you would answer these questions...

What did you do last weekend? Camp

What sort of trees did you see? Pine

Thanks for saving me from having to embarrass myself re cochin....picking up Bantam cochin hatching eggs from a gal in Chico at some point and would hate to identify myself as a noob.

Yeah I say it the same way. Based on this discussion of how to pronounce the breeds, I am just going to have to point and say......I like that one over there. I would reveal much more ignorance than I like to by trying to say the breeds..... Oy!!!

I just stumbled upon this thread that features all kinds of cool coop ideas and inventions. I am only on page 10 but I need to go let the birds out. Looking forward to coming back to see more. Some people are soo creative and handy.

This is an awesome thread I got quite a few ideas off of this one.

We had a Little bit of snow late last night. Not much but non the less.

Well that looks pretty doesn't it??!!

Costco had them--a charger and Batteries. They save a lot of money over time.

Enloop can be recharged to full capacity a lot of times and they do not loose the charge sitting.

I have switched over most of our batteries to them.
Groupon was selling an 8 pack of Duracell AA rechargables a few weeks ago. The price was pretty good too if I remember correctly. Right now they are selling a combo or AA and AAA but the price seems high to me. What is the Costco price for rechargables..... if you recall.

I had one literally die on me last night. I picked it up to check for pasty butt. I wiped a little off its rear end and cleaned its feet off. All of a sudden it started making a clicking sound when breathing, it spit up liquid, and died in my hands.

I have never ever had that happen before. I'm guessing that maybe it aspirated water/food that it had eaten when I tipped it forward to check its butt. Poor little Pita Pinta!
Wow! That is kind of unexpected. Poor thing.....

I witnessed something weird this morning in the chicken yard. My younger Australorp hen jumped on (an fully mated with) one of my other hens. I've heard of dominate hens crowing sometimes, but never this. Is this normal dominate behavior or....? She lays eggs, and I'm 100% sure she's not a rooster. I'm a little freaked out by it.
