California - Northern

Well, hello gorgeous.

On a side note, apparently counting days on a calendar is not my strong suit. The turkeys are not due to hatch until NEXT week. Duh.
Has it really only been 3 weeks since the chicken party? Yep - dagnabbit.

I am not looking!

I do not need them, NO I DO NOT need them........Really,,,,,,

Just said goodbye to Darla. She's in a box at the FedEx office. She was my mom's favorite hen. She used to peck at my dogs freckles, and would follow the dog around the yard. Every time she saw me she would squat, it was so funny. I'm going to miss that little freckle-eater.

So sorry for your loss. You sound like a wonderful keeper. You had such a string of ups & downs in a short period of time.

Thank you, I do my best for my babies. Thursday when she gets home from work, my mom and I are going to look into installing misters on the coop. I believe heat is what killed Darla...at least, that's what I'm hoping. These past few weeks have definitely been an emotional rollercoaster. On one hand, my chickens got sick, we were terrified it was MG, AND I lost my sweet Darla. But on the other, it wasn't MG, I've had a pretty successful hatch so far, and a foster dog of 6 weeks was adopted. That is all just the tip of the iceberg lol. It's been a crazy few weeks, but the only thing I would change is Darla's passing.

I just found Darla, one of my Speckled Sussex, dead in the nest box. Now I can't stop crying. She smells bad, so she must have died yesterday morning and I just didn't notice. Will someone please link me to the link in Kathy's signature, how to send a bird in for necropsy...
Sorry you lost her.

I'm not sure if it was in a BBS pen, give me a few minutes and I'll take some color-correct pictures with my good camera.
