my son almost did that to me. Luckily I realized it before I was in the house. I may need to put a phone in each coopI've had that happen before, only it was another family member who latched the coop while I was inside, thinking someone had left the door unlocked.![]()
an indoor latch is a great idea!Haha! We have an indoor latch on the inside of the coop door which allows me to lock it while I'm inside. Unfortunately, from the outside, it looks like the door is unlatched.![]()

I put out a gallon of corid water this morning, and only half was drunk. Do I have to toss out what's left, or do I let them finish it off and then make new? I did see everyone at the waterer at different points today, so I think I just put too much outThey get fermented feed, so there's some of their liquid requirements in there, and I'd be surprised if the temps got above 70 today (mid50s to low 60s are more normal, but it was warm today).
Hope your finger is okay. At least your hubby has a sense of humor! So I got locked in the chicken coop today.
Not long, maybe two minutes.
But those 2 minutes seemed like a lifetime!
I walked in to give the birds watermelon and as the door shut the tiny latch came down shut.
There is a cover on the whole thing and the outside pen was hot.
I freaked a bit. Didn't even have my phone and no one was home.
I reached one finger through the wire and lifted the latch. It wasn't an easy reach.
When informing my husband of my adventure, he quipped "well at least you had watermelon if you wanted it"
