My little Cream Legbar Roos were all sitting on their roost last night in the brooder in the garage doing their best impersonation of the Bud-wis-er frogs.

Quote: Thanks. I've wondered that every time someone posted about the breed. Finally asked.

I've had that happen before, only it was another family member who latched the coop while I was inside, thinking someone had left the door unlocked.
my son almost did that to me. Luckily I realized it before I was in the house. I may need to put a phone in each coop ;)

Haha! We have an indoor latch on the inside of the coop door which allows me to lock it while I'm inside. Unfortunately, from the outside, it looks like the door is unlatched. :p
an indoor latch is a great idea!

cute :)

I put out a gallon of corid water this morning, and only half was drunk. Do I have to toss out what's left, or do I let them finish it off and then make new? I did see everyone at the waterer at different points today, so I think I just put too much out

They get fermented feed, so there's some of their liquid requirements in there, and I'd be surprised if the temps got above 70 today (mid50s to low 60s are more normal, but it was warm today).

Make it fresh every day, anything left over gets tossed.

I used a gallon jug to mix it so I could refill waterers as needed. I don't feed fermented feed but am/pm meals are mushy pellets. I used corid water added to the pellets.

So I got locked in the chicken coop today.
Not long, maybe two minutes.
But those 2 minutes seemed like a lifetime!
I walked in to give the birds watermelon and as the door shut the tiny latch came down shut.
There is a cover on the whole thing and the outside pen was hot.
I freaked a bit. Didn't even have my phone and no one was home.
I reached one finger through the wire and lifted the latch. It wasn't an easy reach.
When informing my husband of my adventure, he quipped "well at least you had watermelon if you wanted it"
Hope your finger is okay. At least your hubby has a sense of humor!

I am starting to get some nice olive eggs from my crele olive eggers

your eggs are always beautiful jason!

Yes, fabulous visual!

I found the email of the local guy who said he processes today!!! I am hoping he does ducks, and hes not moved, the email is 2 years old >>

Also, last call on female French white Muscovies before they get processed. They are adult sized now and you should get some eggs this year, they might even sit for you!
