The Sacramento ban meeting went so well! I spoke and the first thing I said was "I have never met a rooster that wasn't a chicken. Roosters are chickens and its confusing to the public to say we arent banning chickens, roosters are chickens!!" Credit to my bf for the witty comment he whispered for me to say. It was RIDICULOUS how they kept calling hens chickens. I even checked the county website about chicken keeping and the entire website refers to hens as chickens. I have already written an email to them about this. Our success goes to show how much power we can have if we stand up together! I started a new thread on some tips that helped us to be successful.

The story made national news and was in over 20 papers across the country!! Yay! Thanks to everyone who worked to keep the ban from passing. Thanks Scovy Mama for spreading the word, that was my flyer

much love Nor Cal we did it!
I loved the look on her face when you said that & she tried to explain, "What we mean is..." like we needed a definition of what are chickens from her. They were the ones not aware of what they were even trying to accomplish, I think...

Your poster was put up at the Western Feed my roommate works at & right away he texted me so I could take the day off. Happy to see the outcome!

Thank you for everyone's input.
I love how helpful everyone is here!

Hey ya'll,
If you need anything from Brinsea, there's a 10% off coupon that's still valid: whisper.
I just stocked up on tubing & humidity pads.

Also, I found a great deal on a Brinsea Octagon Advance 40: it's on Amazon for only $399 - no tax, free shipping.
The seller is AGDesignstore.
It comes with the autoturn cradle but not with the humidity pump.
It does have the new cooling feature.

It's supposed to arrive Friday.
I'll update if there's anything amiss but if not - this is $200 less than Brinsea offers it & $100 less than any other seller.
Yay!

Hey guys, I'm looking for fair birds early this year does anyone have any show quality bantams available? Day old's or hatching eggs? My kids (I'm a 4h leader and have about 3 girls in my puoltry group) want to start early this year with chicks to raise for fair, My kids are all beginners and they aren't too worried about winning (although they'd like to do well and be competitive) but they really want to learn and show this year. Since we couldn't find birds last year they used last year as a learning year and they are chomping at the bit this year to get started. Any help would be awesome!!

I might be able to have hatching eggs by next month or chicks febuary. They are serama

That would be great! What colors? Do you have pictures of parent stock? February chicks would work perfectly :)

Well I am getting the hens next weekend, I have one rooster right now. I also have one chick in the brooder and she is frizzled. This is the rooster. the color is crele.

I will post pictures when I get the hens. PM me with anymore Questions! I am going to de a hatch for new years with the hens and the rooster. If I where to Critiqe the rooster, I would say that his comb is a bit big, his back is just a tad long, and the wings could be more vertical. he is going to a show next weekend. I will post how he does

Hey guys, remember me, i was the guy with the chicks with a broody hen, well the chicks are 6 weeks old right now they are getting big and are doing really well.

I have a Question, I have a natural Pond on my property, if i give some ducks a coop can i let them free range all the time, will they be fine with free ranging chickens, i have always loved ducks, what do i need to know about them that are different than chickens?
