CRAP! OK, my multi quote try was a failure.

So:
Deb
try making tea eggs with the quail eggs ( goggle will be your friend here) they look AMAZING but you need the smoky tea, its not as good with earl gray, but still great. Very pretty and entertaining worthy.

egg lady:
So sorry about your chicks, I've got no idea, but moving them if you can and dusting for mites cant hurt. I think you might have to wash babies rather then DE? I vaguely remember DE being too tough on lungs for mini birds, but yymv. If you do wash them, they like the hairdryer to dry, since you cant just pop them back into the incubator and they chill easily.

Papa: Golden feather seems like ti would be worth it for you.A single sale wold more then pay for it, and you have a lot of rare eggs and chicks. crazypetlady does a lot of ebay if you want advice about that she might be able to help you too. Rachael is a sweetie.

Ron: I'm sorry only a few of those eggs are developing, I wouldn't think a day at the fair would have such a huge effect. aah well, if you need more let me know. Are you sure nothing is going on in the Marans eggs? I cant tell until they have chicks in them, and even them I have made mistakes, so I don't toss anything if its a dark egg. But you could have a better candler then me.

I had a whole bunch of babies hatch this week too! Its insane in here. I figured out how I got that partridge chick, because.. i got a whole bunch more. ginger was a busy boy before he left to live in Santa Cruz. He left me with 2 batches of red chicks ( guessing red is dominant over BBS) and the black girls were giving partridge . The chicks look buff, but I don't think they can be, they will get darker as they get older. Its always the quite ones you have to watch! Constance was sneaky about the hens too when I thought he was a she.

Moved the turkeys outside onto the covered porch with their little chicken buddies. I'm still afraid of putting them on the soil, so it s haul them in and out for a while, we will see how they take it. but they are getting too big for the office, so there has to be some plan. I am really starting to rethink turkeys. we will see....
Chiquita, you are so funny!

I candled them on Sunday, and 8 were obviously veining-good for only day 5. There was only one that looked like a blood ring so that is a no go if so. The Marans are very hard to tell so they may be going too. I expect a good hatch from those eggs. I mentioned the Silkie and the Olive Egger eggs because they are new to me. I still think I will get more than nine from the bakers dozen you gave me.

We ate a Duck on tuesday. It was delicious. I would love to try a Goose....

They are Royal Palms. Ill go look at your broody thread, but i dunno if ill be much help, mine seem to take care of themselves unless they become crazy hulk broodies or sit on thier chicks and crush em.

Still learning a lot about BYC. got reprimanded for putting my website in signature line. Didn't know that was a no no. Ha, learn something new every day.
I didn't know you couldn't do that. Can you do it if you're a Golden Feather member? I have my blog (which I never post to and need to switch to my facebook page) and I have it in my signature. BTW, I couldn't find how to change my signature????

I can't wait to hear how they do. My daughter's claustrophobic but her husbands going first through that kind of stuff and she thinks she'll do OK. She is a tough mudder! When she was a kid she use to swim under all the debris on the lake to see whats under it and always game to do whatever the boys did so I'm sure she'll do well. For those of you who don't know what the Tough Mudder is, here's a link, it's worth seeing http://www.toughmudder.com all the money made goes to support wounded soldiers. The moto is "no man left behind" lots of teamwork required and everyone helps everyone get through the obstacles.

OK, pro tip, do NOT put duck or goose down your garbage disposal......
DO NOT ASK
I'm glad the Marans eggs are doing well too, i was wondering how we managed to screw em ALL up!

Quote: My wife tells the story about when she was staying at a friends house growing up and scales started coming up the drain into the shower. She went to the kitchen where the parents were putting Salmon down the disposal. She started singing: There are fishies in the bathtub....The parents did not get it at first.

OK, I need help.

I have a sick silkie from next years flock. she did not go to bed last night, so I moved her into the coop when we got home. This morning when I went out there she hadn't moved, so I brought her inside. She is very sleepy and lethargic. Being a silkie, I couldnt tell if she was puffy, so I put some sulfed in her water, but she has to be forced to drink. gave her some vitimans on her beak and got a little of both in her, but not a ton.

Her poop did not look very well digested, but not red. Did not smell great ( but better then turkey poop, so who knows) she has sneezed, and it was wet, but I cant hear anything in her breathing. And the sneeze could have been water now that I think about it. cant see her eyes, I could trim her feathers to look. She was sleeping with her head all the way down, but did get up and has iched herself several times. mostly she is just sleeping unless I pick her up, then she complains a bit.

I'm trying to make her drink a little every 1/2 hr. what else should I look for? I dont want to loose purples, shes my favorite of next years breeders :(. One of the famous foot sitters.
