So tempting. How long do eggs 'hold'? I don't have any broodies yet. I did get 2 chicken eggs yesterday and 2 today! Moving up in the world! LOL

An Hen choosing to go broody is an iffy thing. TSC sells incubators. They are not the best, but you can add a fan to make them work better.

Watch out though, once you go down that road it is hard to come back.....

The eggs should rest for up to a day after you get them. It says duck eggs need more humidity than chicken eggs. I have room in my second incubator, but I keep the humidity closer to 40%. It says Duck eggs need closer to 85%. I do not know if a semi dry hatch works for them. Ducks take 28 days?

Nope. haha No one is broody yet. I can't say I am too upset. No broody = more eggs. lol I think the Orp girls will go broody before my ducks will. I think the Harlequins or the Buff ducks will be the only ones to possibly go broody if they do. I am curious if any of the ducks go broody tho. I will put some eggs under that duck butt faster than she can sit down.

Feed storage on top, broodies/new babies that need integrating/segregation for injuries underneath. I've even split the area in 1/2 to accomodate 2 broodies at once. It's 3ft by 6ft. I have built a removable door with hooks to secure it - so it's open most of the time, but when I need it to be separate, I add the door. Sorry, it's not the cleanest right now. I just stocked up on feed, so it's super packed too.

Definitely keeping this into consideration for our new coop. I am thinking to have my husband build one of these underneath the roost/poop board. It would be perfect for broodies or even new young chickens that need to be introduced. Thank you- great idea!

I am trying to be patient with all of this. I know building the flock you want takes time.
