Call Ducks Finally Hatched

400

just hatched. ( :
awwwww

Well, I don't have any now. Long story short, my old lab who is around my birds all the time, decided yesterday that she would eat my whole flock of ducks. She has been around these ducks almost 24/7 since they were hatched 6 weeks ago. She's been around chickens much longer and I've never seen her as much as chase a bird. I don't understand what made her do it. I've got 16 more eggs back in the incubator and a training collar on the way for my old dog. Just makes me sick.

I feel your pain. My huskies ate my whole flock of anconas several months ago. Had to start from scratch. Mine was my own error (I know my dogs and they have a high prey drive), but doesn't make it any less painful.

Fingers crossed all goes well. Let me know if you want call duck eggs. I'm overrun.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that! The older gentleman that gives us our hatching eggs is overrun as well. He was as heartbroken as I am, such a sweet old man. I'm still baffled as to why my lab did it. I don't know if shes just getting old and grouchy or what. I hunt a lot and can tell you that I've never seen any behavior out of her that would suggest that she would do that b/c she is not ever shown any killer instinct. She has retrieved many birds, rabbits & squirrels for me and never destroyed anything, in fact shes brought me many game animals that were still breathing. In fact, when hunting, she shows more excitement over retrieving a kill than something that is wounded & will even shy away. Anyhoo, just had to vent, I'm just totally sick. Not only for the ducks but what does that say about my baby? Did I mention she is my therapy/service dog?... Its just so out of character that I'm perplexed and upset.

Thank you!
Seems weird that just her. I have them on unmedicated starter food. But I will definitely try that.
She is a cutie. They still sleep inside at night so every time I water them I take her out so she doesn't get trampled.
Now she comes to the cage door because she's knows I'm going to take her out to water her :)
She's become quite tame and used to sitting on my lap.

How Little Squirt coming long?? LOL

This morning while she was sitting on my lap I notice 3 little feathers coming in on her right wing!!!!! Tried to take pics but the flash kept messing it up.
I think she's a snowy but won't know for sure til she gets her feathers. I don't know if it's coincidence or if the stuff is helping. Seems a little fast to be that, but i don't know.....
I've been putting Nutri-Drench in her water. Has the vitamin E and Niacin you said she needed. And I had it on hand :)
She's such a doll! So friendly from getting the extra attention.
