With few exceptions, the younger motorcycle drivers seem to go for those things. Yes, it's still a motorcycle, but designed more for speed and maneuverability than it is for comfort. We frequently make five, six hour trips on DH's harley and despite my spine issues I can be completely comfortable on the back of it. I wouldn't last 15 minutes on the back of a crotch rocket.
DH and I once witnessed a young guy on a CR not only speeding through town (40 MPH speed limit) but doing wheelys and texting while doing it. Had DH been on duty, that guy would have received so many citations he'd be middle-aged before he could pay them all off.

Not only are the "stunts" you see them do with the CRs impossible with a bike this heavy, but trying them on it would likely leave you with a $24,000 pile of junk.

We attended Daytona Bike Week in 2007 and saw lots of Harleys, Indians, Honda Goldwings, even those 8 cylinder monsters. Also way too many CRs. Arriving back at the mobile home park - God's waiting room - where my dad lives late at night, we had to push that harley two blocks from the entrance to the park to dad's driveway. That's enough exercise to last me for months.
Both here and in western NC (where I'm from) a sports bike is a crotch rocket and quite often, a rice burner.

When we stopped to get something to eat while at bike week we met an older lady (late 60s, maybe?) that stopped at the BK to get her grandsons something to eat. She was driving an older heritage softail converted with a sidecar. One of her GSs rode behind her and the younger one in the sidecar. When she got ready to leave her bike wouldn't start. We stayed with her until her husband was able to bring a trailer up to Daytona (she was from Melbourne). She graciously offered to let us spend the night at her house, but we chose to ride back to my dad's instead. It's only about a 3 1/2 hr. ride from Daytona to my dad's house, but after being on the bike all day I was never so glad to get off that thing.

I saw a guy last week texting while riding his bike down the road. He dropped it while doing 45 MPH

Incredibly poor etiquette, but about what I expect of the crotch rocket crowd - there's a reason they aren't often invited to join group rides. I've yet to meet one who knew how to ride in formation and understood group riding rules.
Fwiw, my husband is a MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) coach, we're both fully endorsed riders and both involved in the Patriot Guard. We ride a metric cruiser.
Also, FYI: A Goldwing isn't a cruiser, its a touring bike.
