My Grandpa Lt. Col. Ross, Pearl Harbour Survivor,B-24 Pilot, B-17 Navigator/Bombardier, D-day Pilot, flew on Black Thursday, bombed Berlin, and flew over 57 missions earning a Silver Star, and more medals than I can remember at this late hour, was my hero, and the reason I am any kind of decent human being at all. I miss him more each day.
My uncle, Major R. Ross, US Army DMZ Korea Did some flying with Air America. I lost him before I got the whole really cool story, and I wish I was sitting here drinking a beer with him now.
My father USAF Crew Chief U2 1964-1972 He volunteered for 3 tours of duty in country, and he still has jungle rot and weird patches from chemical exposure, and will die before he will claim a dime of VA benefits voluntarily.
I destroyed my left knee at Ft Sill in Oklahoma while still in R.O.T.C. and was booted by the Army at the start of the first time we went to Iraq.
Going to have my second surgery on it here in the next month or two. Mine was the first generation in our families history in this country, not to serve.
