It's against the law to set a live trap and not check it every day. It's animal cruelty to let it starve and dehydrate over the week end.
Your City could have a HUGE lawsuit on its hands if word gets out to the local channel 6 news...(hint hint

Wow that just slays me that they can set a trap like that and think it's ok to now check it. They could have come out whenever and that poor dog would have suffered a terrible death. Thank goodness you were there to care for him. I hope he gets a great home. And I hope Karma bites your PD in the a**.

Problem with being in a really small town is that there's no nearby news station.
Also, the suffering animal is no longer in the cage for them to film.

Glad you rescued him Tiff. Hope he gets his happy ever after!

I would call them ask what treatment and then tell them why I needed to know. You did a great thing there. That is sick and wrong to set a trap and not check it for ANY animal domestic or wild no animal should be allowed to suffer under any circumstances. Great job I would of done the same thing.

Barnyard I see you live in southwest Ga! So do I and the PO (actually the sheriffs dept but thats a long story) is the same way here! I am soooo glad you rescued the pup! You deserve a pat on the back and a ((HUG)).

Update on "Jake" the stray.... He seems to be fitting in really well with his new foster home. Still haven't decided if he will live here or there. Just trying to get him healthy and fattened up. He is just the sweetest thing. Great with her kids and mine. A little skiddish but I knew he would be. Oh and guess what....

. So, on my way out tomorrow I will kindly go by there and make sure it shuts.

Sounds to me like you need to figure out who would be their supervisors. I am in the same state but have no idea. County? Governor's office? I would personally have trouble going to someone like ASPCA but would if I had to. Somehow, this needs to be reported to someone.

Then again, I imagine they are both elected officials. If so, it is possible that a call to the mayor would be effective. Not good PR.

Good luck.

I would make the trap "dissappear" not to be found and all other traps that was spotted. That is so inhumane! How would they like being in that trap for a few days without food or drink???
