Can we just talk BJG?

Hi all,
I have been searching & stalking the threads just to read all I can about Black Jersey Giants. I am intrigued by them!
We have 2 7 week old BJG pullets who are so sweet and funny, along with 2 ISA, and 3 EE.
I was just hoping anyone who has or has had BJGs can just share their experiences, thoughts, stories of breeding, growth, temperament, hatching...anything. I just want to soak it all in!

Why is this such an unpopular breed?

I raise them. I love them. One of my favorite breeds. Many people don't because they can be hard to find quality. They are also a bigger slow growing bird.

I just got my first and only Black Jersey Giant two weeks ago at a day old. Her name is Black Betty. She seems to be growing out much more slowly than the other five chicks I have her with of different breeds, but I've read that's typical of the BJG and she'll catch up later.

I have 4 and I love them. They are in a mixed flock. One was very slow at growing out I named her Cruella. I love her she is so sweet.
