As far as I know permethrin is only available as an aerosol spray to be used in horse barns. I believe the product is called Konk.

Thanks Michelle! That's interesting. Most of the time Ectiban is used for cattle and I didn't realize it was for chickens until everyone had to switch to Permethrin in the U.S. I've seen it in Saskatchewan, but behind glass. I keep forgetting to ask if a producer can use it.

I'm glad the dusting powder is available. :yesss:

I've never looked at the stuff behind glass. I'll take a look the next time I'm buying feed.
 
Also... I don't know if this is something you want to add or not...
The provincial government in Alberta requires people to have a PID (premises identification) when purchasing pretty much anything other than feed. I tried to buy some vitamins and blu kote and couldn't even get those without it. When applying you even have to indicate where on your property animals are being housed. Evidently it's in place to help monitor diseases etc. To try to prevent an outbreak.

So that's just for your chickens? That's really good to know, thank you.

For the cattle and sheep I'm aware there is the premise id "request" so far (we have both types of livestock) but I'm not aware of it being a requirement in either Saskatchewan or Manitoba. We have not filled out to obtain PID...yet. They take our information down for for buying bags of feed for the chickens, we're in the system. So far there's no requirement for PID for things like vitamins, topicals like blu cote etc.

If you buy feed the store is required to get your address. If you buy just about anything else a PID is required. Even for things like iodine. Hell, I'll just walk over to Shoppers then.
