my chickens remind me of them!

Mine too.

They dive on their faces for treats.

At necropsy, a half clove of garlic and several large pieces of chicken meat were present in the crop. [....] The Dusky-headed conure weighs approximately 95 gms.

A small chicken would weigh 1900 grams (for the sake of easy calculation), which would work out at ten cloves of garlic. Nobody here is advocating feeding that much garlic.

I would also prefer a less extreme case as a source. Ideally the bird in question would have had a normal diet apart from the offending garlic. If the owner of this conure was stuffing chicken meat down its throat, who knows what else the poor bird had to eat?

Fair enough, but I haven't seen any articles written by vets that say it's safe to feed any amount of garlic.
