There was no hung jury because they all agreed. The case was extremely obvious and there was no other way to go.

Sorry. Don't buy it. The duct tape alone should have been enough to convict in my humble opinion. There is just no innocent explanation for it being there. There is no way to look at the time line of events and come to the conclusion that Casey did not kill that child. Next time I get to southern California I am going to corner my BIL who is an attorney and have him explain reasonable doubt to me. I think the jury was sincere but I think they blew it. I am curious to see what BIL has to say, though.

Ya know I watch this fiasco from the get go and I'm not sure who is more messed up the family or the spectators. I really feel sorry for Caylee.
I guess it's just the times we live in.

Reasonable doubt means that the defense introduce evidence that would lead the jury to believe that there a POSSIBILITY that she didn't do it. The fact that there was zero physical evidence is reasonable doubt. Thought out without emotion, you can understand. Introduce emotion, well, that is where we all are that beleive she should have been convicted.

Robin'sBrood :

I knew I had heard that at one point there was a 6 to 6 vote for the manslaughter charge. This is where the jury could have stayed hung, IMO. Really good article here , and here is an excerpt...

We didn’t know how she died, we didn’t know when she died,” said Juror No. 2, who was one of the 10. “Technically, we didn’t even know where she died.

“You couldn’t say who did it. To me, that’s why it was aggravated manslaughter of a child.”

The next vote was on just that charge, aggravated manslaughter of a child. The vote was 6-6 for manslaughter. The two sides hardened. They started talking over one another. The jury foreman calmed them all down.

“The six that voted guilty said it didn’t matter at what point in time she came home and found out her daughter was missing,” he said. “She had to report it in some way, shape or form, and that’s where the negligence came in.”

But some jurors, he said, had decided not to convict Casey Anthony of any charge in the girl’s death. By lunch Tuesday, the guilty side started to lose votes.

Juror No. 2 was the last holdout. Deliberations lasted for 11 hours over two days. They filed into court at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday to hand over their verdict.

The rest as they say, is history.

I'm sorry, but I'll never agree that they had to vote not guilty instead of letting it be a mistrial... never, ever.

I agree, Robin. MANY, many people have been convicted on MUCH less.

It doesn't matter what has happened on other cases, in this case the jury voted not guilty. They where the only opinions that counted and if the press doesn't want her to make money on this then stop talking about her.

This is so true.

I'd like to see EVERYONE boycotting EVERY show about Casey Anthony AND writing/emailing the station or presenter (like Nancy Grace) and TELLING THEM WHY.

What if no one watched it?

The problem is that millions of people will watch. People are fascinated by this case, even though on average about one unsolved child murder A DAY occurs, year in and out.

Why are people so obsessed with THIS case? Why did the media leap on THIS case?
