Cat with urinary issue - any ideas? Update #2 pg 3

I thought I might update this for anyone who might have a similar problem. The amitryptilline has worked wonders for the cat, it has taken 17 days since we started the Meds for me to say that, this last week has been wonderful. Now I have to go sniff every corner of the house looking for places she hit, but I can do it.

Now, this cat has never liked people, she was really on our short list. But this is totally what we've done

1). We give her amitryptilline prescribed by our vet nightly
2). We changed litter to clumping litter.
3). We treated her for fleas
4). She now goes outside and strolls around the house for an hour or two each night and comes back in.

Also, the amitryptilline seems to have taken away the major anxiety she was experiencing and had experienced since we've had her. She now seeks any of us out to curl up on, play with, even talk to. She is sitting on my husbands lap now and purrs when petted. It is a different cat. I will admit I cannot believe this worked. So, I want to share what seems so far like a success. If we have to give her Meds for the rest of her life, I am ok with that, she actualy looks and acts happy for the first time since we've had her for 3 years.

Wow - what a great result!!! I'm so happy to read this - I'm really glad that everything sems to be resolving. Kudos to you for sticking with her to figure out what was going to work...really well done!

black lights will find any organic matter nit just cat pee... we were using it for seeking out cat pee and it was funny cause you could see where on the carpet my son was wiping his sweaty stinky feet.

we also found where my daughter vomited and we cleaned it with Mr. Clean and scrubbed and thought it was clean...

just remember when you do find the spots you need to clean not only the carpet but the under pad AND the flooring underneath the carpet.. the only way I have found after MANY enzyme treatments.. home remedy's ... many thousands of dollars spent on stuff that does not work... the only way is to replace everything! when you remove or roll back the carpet treat the area with a shellac based primer or clear shellac sealer. Do not use polyurethane or anything but shellac... they will not seal all the way and the odor will seep through and you will be back to the same problem within a year. Zinsser makes a GREAT primer.. it stinks like the dickens but it dries really fast!

x2

So glad to hear that she's doing better! I had a male who sprayed in the house and had done some damage before I knew he was doing it. I bought a wand type black like and every night I'd scan a room until the whole house was done.
