I know i dont know how you people convinced me but i agreed to take a dutch roo and i dont have any dutch! lol i didnt realize til after

We made it home through the down pour and somehow the chickens stayed dry in the carriers. We to ended up having to clears some limbs and build a pen for some of the chickens we got. Only planned on getting a trio of those great Orpingtons from SUNSETWEST and ended up taking 6 home. I love them though and they are such nice, sweet BEAUTIFUL chickens.

Anika thanks for my 2 ducklings. The lone baby duck was SO HAPPY to get friends. They all cuddled up together immediately.

Kelly I am SO sorry I didn't get to talk to you much. Shane (my hubby) said I wasn't allowed to because you wanted to talk to me about taking some of your birds.

He said I was already at my limit and knew you would talk me into something.

I will try to leave him at home next time.

Chickenzoo - save me some Blue Orp eggs or let me know if you change your mind about those pullets.

Lisa it was great to see you guys again.

Last where and when is the next swap?: Hope to see everyone again.

I had a LOT of fun today despite the rain and running on 3 hours of sleep. Not sure what I'm doing still awake...

On a sad note, I came home and found one of my Royal Palms dead in the pen.

It was one of the 2 young ones that were about 3-4 months old. No injuries or anything, never acted sick, and everyone else is fine.

OK!!! For the next and all future swaps, we must have name tags, I spoke to people and didn't know who (BYC Name) they where... Like 4kidz, who knew?

I agree! I should have remember to ID myself as well. My memory is terrible and then I am left to ASK people who they are!!!!

Does BYC sell name tags? That way I could leave one in my car and always be prepared!!​

Kelly - sorry about your turkey, turkeys are very fragile until long past 3 months old. I keep mine off the ground until 3-4 months because of this..............

Ok thank you! I was wondering what your BYC name was. Lol. Yeah i got 1 polish but she's in with 12 other chicks and my friend has 1 polish with his chicks they are doing great

Kelly-sorry about your turk--I don't know what is going on w/ these deaths, but I woke up this morning to find one of my cuckoo maran hens (stayed home while I was at the swap) dead next to my broody blue copper in the nesting box!

I absolutely HATE mystery deaths. I checked her crop, checked her for eggbound, checked her for mites, worms, ANYTHING!

No signs of sick, all others are healthy. They come out and free-range ALL DAY, and sleep in the pen and night. The pen only has a partial roof though and I have seen a couple of rats in there at night. Has anyone had chickens DIE from rats in the coop? In the 10 years we've lived in FL, we've never had a rodent problem in our home, so not sure how to handle it except d-con...and then I'm afraid that others would get into it

Help appreciated.
