Hey Everybody!

I am still learning about chickens myself...
But, I can help you and your friends with certain breed questions. I do not know all of them, but I do know some.

These are the breeds I can help with: BO, PPR, G-L-W, NH, DEL, DORK, SF, SS, BC, BA, BB, and Guinea fowl if needed. If you don't know an abbreviation, then send me a PM and I'll help. I hope I will be helpful!

Okay, here it starts!

Hello Sarah!

Yes, more often than not they have the same style.
Sometimes people claim the Light Brahma's are more of a lap bird.
I never had the light so I don't quite know 100% but another difference is...

The BB's have orange-like legs and the light have whiter skin and legs.
Does that help? Thanks for responding, I hope my answer helped!

And I know your thinking about BB's, trust me... You'll love 'em!

Hello Angry Hen. My mom really wants a light Brahma. However, it seems to be an extremely large chicken. Can Brahmas's live with my other ten chickens? I have chickens in my flock that will only ever be 5 pounds. Also, will a normal coop made for eleven chickens be large enough? Any tips regarding Brahmas would be nice. Thanks!

Hello @Sueak61!

Yes the Brahma's are large,
I would not suggest having a Brahma rooster with the five pound hens.
Maybe okay with Brahma hens though.

It's up to them if they get along,
the good part is your on the right page of adding a bigger birds with smaller.
Not the other way around, hopefully the smaller ones will say their the boss and no one will want to mess with them.

As long as the Brahma's don't outnumber the other breeds you should be fine!

The other question...
You should probably add on to the coop.
And you should add perches.

The Brahma's won't fly too high,
or else their weight will hurt them.
So if anyone had to hide when you weren't around,
they can escape the bigger ones.

It might just work, but no more than three years or they might lose interest in the squeezed coop.

Good luck with the Brahma idea!
Your Mom will like the Brahma's,
you have a couple worries but it should be very small of a chance that the Brahma's will mess with the former first owners of the coop!

I hope this helps!
