Chantecler Thread!

There are some breeds that are more popular than others and sell out sooner. I expect they will have some next year. I was considering getting some next year as well.

In all, have you all found that Sandhill has good stock? I have heard VERY mixed opinions on their birds, especially with that one bird on this thread that was "Chantecler" but looks VERY Orloff.

Has anyone heard anything on the stock of Chanteclers, namely Buff, from Ideal? I have been very happy in general with their birds and customer service, but Chanteclers seem to be funny when they come from hatcheries.

Heres some Chanteclers of mine from Canada.

Young Cockerel but is showing some very good traits

Three young Roos, still havent decided which one to use for breeding yet, All are nice

Three hens from a Quebec strain, not top quality if you ask me. Little small

Best of breed at a couple shows now, just waiting for her to start laying

Her real close sister, sometimes get them mixed up. Thank goddness for leg bands

I do have 4 buff Chantecler hens in my layer flock from Ideal. They're absolutely gorgeous. The only fault that I can see in them is too much fluff...in that they look like they're wearing pantaloons.

They're really not as tight feathered as they should be. But overall, I'm very happy with them.

My buffs have the same fluff issue!!

They are 5 months old give or take a week
