Charity- animals for 3rd world countries?

I have planned to purchase food for 3 local families so that they can have a nice Christmas meal. They can save the money that they would have normally used to buy the food and use that money to buy necessities for their kids.

Paper goods (plates, cups, etc.)

When my daughter was young, I talked her into giving up one gift a year to buy a gift for an elderly person instead. Through a local senior center she was able to actually meet the senior she was gifting. After the first time she was hooked.
