Charleston we have a Broody here!

Pics
There is a problem emerging: Katharina wants out! She was standing at the gate, quacking, looking over, even trying to hop over the gate…
Her babies are way too small to go outside to the other ducks!
Don't know what to do. I had hoped she would stay at least a full week inside the house with the lil' ones.
:thAnd Erpelchen turns more and more into an a-hole, he would kill and eat the babies in minutes i guess. Anybody been in that situation before?

Catfood is fine for ducks! - As long as it is not fed exclusively. It contains much protein, which is good to trigger laying, helps injured ducks to heal, starving Momma ducks and growing ducklings. Just don't over-do it.
OK but I researched cat food and I saw what goes into it- many animal byproducts-- I use laying pellets and and our ducks started laying in Winter with 1

Separate areas temporarily let the adults out get them set up then let mama and babes out this will be for a few weeks then hopefully the ducklings can keep away from drakes, Erpelchen May have to stay in drake jail if he doesn’t behave.

plastic fencing works then you can take it down once ducklings are larger. I figured she’d want to take them out she only has like 3-5 weeks to teach them life lesson. Just put their temp area where you can get mama and ducklings back to their bedroom before putting the others up. And she has a way of keeping them from being out in the open. How about their retreat you made moving mom and duckling up there if secure? De temp fencing around it. If you move her catch her first out her in new place then go in and catch the ducklings. You’ll need a deep box or dog crate. I’d say she’s done with any eggs left in the nest. But always candle before tossing. Good luck. Most of us have been right where you are. And lived! lol.
