*ok how do you tell if it's single or double barred*?

These are pics I found on the internet. The dark one is a girl. The light one is a boy. You can clearly see the difference in the barring. Dark color means there is only one barring gene.





In chicks, double barred (always male), are much lighter in color with a much bigger head spot. They are gray with a large yellow head blotch.

Single barred chicks are black with a small white head spot.

Frizzle is not recessive, if they have one copy they will be frizzled. And one copy is all you want them to have - two copies and they are called frazzles, and they have a lot of problems, especially with their feathers. Always put a smooth rooster over frizzled hens or a frizzled rooster over smooth hens, do not breed two frizzles together.
