Well, get your headlight out and got check some butts,
if you really want to know who is laying and who is not.
Vent Appearance:
Dry, tight, and smaller - usually not laying.
Moist, wide, and larger - usually laying.
Pelvic Points 2 bony points(pelvic bones) on either side of vent:
Less than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means not laying.
More than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means laying.
I'm right above you in Missouri. Saturday high 52, low 9.
The hens will be just fine, its the long stretches in which the temps don't get out of the single digits that can cause problems.
Give them some cracked corn or scratch grain before they go to roost.
