Chick "scalped" (not my chick)

They aren't going back with her until they ate much older. It definitely was the hen who hatched them, she suddenly started pecking them on the heads for some reason?
Once in awhile, there'll be a bad broody. From what I've heard, once a bad broody, always a bad broody. For future reference, if this hen ever goes broody again, it should be discouraged, and not allowed to have any chicks again. I don't know what causes a bad broody, unfortunately.
 
What colour is it? It's a silkie and I was curious I've never seen a silkie that colour

Not sure what to make of the color in the one photo provided. Hope the little dear heals up well. Some good advice given here. 😊
Maybe post again when the little has healed up and feathered out some to help determine color.
