One of my chicks was sat outside the brooder which is unusual.
It cannot walk and is terrified (poor little thing)
It’s leg is bruised and I was just wondering if it is broken and what we can do to fix it

Here are pictures

Does she stand on it? Or does it stick out at a strange angle? How long has it been like that that you know of and how old is your chick? I’m thinking maybe a slipped tendon... mostly from the angle and it’s the only leg problem I had with my chicks...

So sorry about your chick’s injury. Did you put a screen or net over the top of the brooder so no others will fall out? She looks like she probably is hurting with the bruising. She may have sprained her legs, but it will be hard to know if anything is broken without more examination and pictures. Can you make her a sling or chair after school today? That will allow her to rest her legs and you can place a little food and water in front of her. Is she able to get to food and water while you are at school? Can your mother offer water and food, and maybe make her a little cup of wet chick feed to eat? Does she have heat? Here is a good link with pictures of homemade chicken slings (look at all of the pics and video)

And the angle of the leg here... I’m thinking there’s some of the “handy phone cam” is flipping the image for you without asking going on?

I was so upset by some negative comments on the thread I posted because I had problems with my hatch that I was afraid to post about mine when they had slipped tendons... maybe someone can link some good threads on it? I looked up several, but by the time I figured out what I was dealing with they were too far along to correct and I ended up euthanizing three chicks because of it.
