I just stumbled across this thread and found pics of my birds on here already, lol. My email notifications must have been turned off. . Here's some pics of a color not on this thread yet:

In the early spring I put a bunch of eggs which I thought had gotten real cold from a mixed group into a new unfamiliar bator to test the machine & get to know it. Bator worked great & eggs were very viable: 11 of 12 hatched, . The white guy pictured above is from a chamois roo (first pic in this thread) over a silver hen. Kinda pretty for an oops.

I love the Spitzhauben breed. I acquired some spitz eggs the first year I had an incubator bc I figured if I was going to go thru the trouble of hatching out chicks, might as well hatch out polka dotted chickens with Mohawks . I hatched out a few other breeds that year as well, but the spitzes stood out by far as my favorites. Love their personalities & attitude. They're the first ones out in the snowy cold days we have up here. Always coming to see what I'm doing. And they're a breed that needs/deserves more attention. It's great that we're seeing more of the golds and chamois in this country as well as better quality silvers. It's a really fun breed to work with.

The two that I got from you are doing great! I love the fact that they actually look like Spitz, and not Polish.

I Think that I have one male and one female. i thought that they were both black, but the boy, Schnitzel, has lots of white on him. The girl, Java is mostly black, but also has some white.

Somehow I have lost track of time, and I am not sure if their current feathers are still their juvenile feathers or if these are their adult feathers....


Hummm... I will need to get photos tomorrow.

@PhoredaBurds the spitz you just posted a photo of is very handsome! How old is he? 6 months?

The white roo is just over 4 months old in that pic. I have to get some updated pics to. Looking forward to seeing more pics of ur birds!

wow! Your boy already has such mature wattles on him!!

Humm.... Haha! Mine are only 11 weeks! I had to take out my calender and count! They are BABIES still! No wonder yours looks so much older!!!!

The one with lots of white is the male, his name is Schnitzel, the mostly black one is female and we named her Java.
