Coop door creaks open
A whirlwind of flapping wings
The day has begun.

Run jump flap descend from sky
Manners forgotten

Yes, life is rather simple if you look at from a chicken's point of view. The day begins when the girls run out the pop door.

Hope that was not inspired by recent events.....

I suppose it was. Although I wasn't conscious of that when I wrote it.
It was actually a Polcat ferret, not a fox (too many syllables). Although they react in exactly the same way as a fox.
It happened last November before I joined BYC. I haven't spoken about it on here before.
I took the girls food hopper out before I left for work as usual. It was still dark. You can imagine the scene that greeted me.
I found it pretty traumatic and the drive to work was pretty dark.
I'd hatched them all about 5 years before.
Still bothers me now judging by the amount of dust in my eyes while I'm writing this.
Any how, thanks for the therapy. The power of poetry, hey!

Who is killing the roosters
Widow maker hen

Turned out one of my hens hates roosters... so she is in solitary now.
