Chicken house gone

It missed me this time, just rain. The really sad part for me personally is that I lost 10 trees. I have one left in my front yard. These were huge trees three 0aks with 42 inch bases a pecan about the same size, two huge spruces, two maples, one tulip tree and my magnolia which I thought could be saved but turned out it is split and has to come down.
I have no shade in my backyard now and it's like living on the shore of Lake Michigan, very windy now.

My cousin lives in New Melle, Mo, just south of Wentzville. Your tornado first struck about a mile from their house, then hopped and skipped it's way to you and the airport. They didn't have any damage, but I guess it was frightening for them. In Central Illinois, where I live, we've had many damaging storms throughout the years. I know what it's like to rebuild. I'm glad you get the chance to have something bigger and better, just sorry it took a tornado for you to have it. The main thing is you're ok, your "girls" are ok, and life will get back to normal one of these days. Stay safe.

I am so sorry to hear of all the damage you sustained. I am glad you all made it through. Weather is a very scary situation as you can do nothing about it and just have to try to ride it out the best you can. We were in the the Johnstown Flood of 1977 and I was home alone with our newborn twins. Luckily, we lived high enough up on a hill that only our basement got flooded. My husband was working at a grocery store that was open 24 hours a day and they took in many people who had to flee their homes in the middle of the night. My friend had to be rescued out of a second story window of her home before it came off the foundation and got washed away. My mom sat on a windowsill of her house for over 12 hours waiting for a boat to come buy and rescue her. These things are very difficult. Hope you get a bigger and better chicken coop out of this whole mess!

Yes and the way I read the policy it should be covered under "replacement" cost. the coop was only 5 years old. We'll see. The ins. co was out a week later and they told me it would take 2-3 weeks to settle my claim. Not really happy with the time frame but what can you do. My neighbors have already recieved checks. My ins. co. is a national well known carrier.
