She is going to get a lot of fluid under the skin, some ongoing pain killers, antibiotics for the wound, and they recommended I pull another chicken out of the coop to stay with her for the 3-4 days she can’t go back- of course, that opens up a whole slew of other issues. They told me her chances wouldn’t have been good staying at home because the side of her face is swelling up from the trauma and she can’t move her beak enough to drink well. I’m glad they are treating her so well and I can hear her raising hell in the back while they’re giving her the fluid! They emphasized again and again that she really needed to have pain medicine to heal-
