It started out cooler this morning but I was able to work outside 80% of the day since 5:30 am....Beautiful day, just gorgeous - got into the 50's and that was almost a heat wave, Now the fire is in the wood stove, hubby's milking the cows and I'm trying to figure out how many eggs I can stuff in the "maiden voyage of the used cabinet he bought".....Better get those bargain eggs on auction - LOL, cause I've found a place in the barn where I can line up the stryo's and the cabinets and it has a door to keep my nosy cats out..... MMMMMM,,,,,,I truly need intervention!!! Baby chicks for sale in 22 days! if the temp & humdity stays true on this thing!

Muggs, I need your assistance on deciphering your Notes On Eggs again.

I think I can guess these: BCM/A - the A is Amereucana?

There are some REALLY dark brown shells and holding them under the light, I read BCM. Not a mixture?

Then there was a LAV/SPLT or something like that on two light green/blueish eggs, but I picked them apart in assisting those chicks.

There are only three eggs left out of the 14 of yours that made it into lockdown and they probably won't hatch, but DANG this was a great hatch! 11 of your chicks and 4 little bantam cochins from another source.

Yes...BCM/A is going to yield an Olive Egger. Blue Copper Roo over Lav and Black Ameraucana hens. I've gotten two very light blue OE's that are drool worthy out of this cross.

The really dark BCM egg is a pure BCM. Dad is Blue Copper and the moms are Blue and Black Copper.

The Welsummer hen is in the Lav Ameraucana pen....we write Lav/Wellie on them (OE)...I can't remember if you ended up with one. She is a sporadic layer.

The Lav/Split is going to be either pure Lavender Ameraucana or split Lavender Ameraucana. The split lav chick will appear black. If the egg was more on the green side...you have a pure Lav Ameraucana that hatched and will be obvious when it fluffs out. The Black Am hens lay a light blue egg, the Lav Ams lay a greenish blue egg. Did I make that more confusing? It's past my bed time...so if I did, I'll be back on tomorrow and make sense of it.

I've been naughty!

Not only did I order a pair of geese, I coerced a fellow BYC-er into the illicit pleasures of waterfowl!

And of course, 4 goslings is not a box-full so I HAD to add 3 Madagascar game pullets and 3 white Jersey GIANT pullets!

And I want my "males for warmth", there had better be at least 1 extra cute little chicken in this box or....

I need to go to bed, I have such a headache! But my incubators are in the bedroom now with RRROOOWWWRRRR loud fans and cheeping of little hatchlings so I doubt I will get much sleep!

I moved them into the house when my folks were gone so I could keep the temps stable. The room in the garage is insulated, but I suspect it was getting colder in there at night and warmer in the day, thus causing the poor hatches. Now that Mom & Dad are home, they can't stay on the dining room table so my bedroom it is!

Two of my pips have zipped! Now I know I am not going to sleep tonight!
