magicpigeon...I'm finding I am easily drawn to wanting all birds. It's sick. Ducks are next on my list! Welcome.

Hahahahahah! thanks for the offer but I am pushing it even keeping my one mutt roo - he's way out in my back coop and time will tell if he's loud enough to annoy the neighbors. They didn't complain when I had 17 guineas so I hope they won't notice one little cochin roo. If you have hatching eggs tho we might need to talk.. no no no.. no eggs until I get rid of these roos!!! (slapping hand away from incubator). I have 5 little MF D'uccle roos and two bantam salmon favorelle. And my one blue 10 week old roo.

ROFL!!! I'm so glad you're not my child! We'd be in sooooo much trouble together. I started OUT with 2 ducks, 2 geese and 13 chicks from the local farm supply store. It wasn't 4 months later and I ordered 27 more chicks.........and this spring will see more ducks and geese. I AM SOOOOOO Addicted to ducks and geese

PM me if you'd like to try some hatching eggs. If you pay the shipping (guessing around $12/dozen) I'm happy to send them. I have a pen with various marans (3 roosters are golden cuckoo marans, hens various including BCM, blue marans, and some buff cochin). A black Ameraucana rooster (Paul Smith line) was sneaky and ended up in the pen today somehow, so you might get him as a daddy also, ending up with an olive egger. I also have various free range eggs, all fertile, but lots of various breeds. My head rooster is an Australorp, but there are 50+ other roosters doing their jobs too....

Hello!

Thank you so much for your post and offer! I would be glad to pay for the eggs as well, at least what you would sell them for as eatin eggs.

Also, I would gladly even scrimp a bit to be able to pay you handsomely for eggs from a Black Ameraucana over black/ blue Ameraucana hens and barred rock hens! I am fascinated by the concept of sexlinked black E.E. hens and I LOVE Black Ameraucanas!

Once I get our new breeding pens set up in a few weeks, I could put the barred rock hens in with the black ameraucana. So maybe you'd rather just wait for those? I know it's hard to wait, but it might be nice to get what you're really wanting. I have some cuckoo maran girls I could put in there too if you want. I also plan to put the barred rocks in with our welsummers, probably in February, since I'd like to make some welbars eventually. It's a pretty easy project since it just requires keeping some of the roosters each time (I love roosters) and breeding back to the welsummer hens.

I'm so glad someone else loves roosters as much as I do! Mine are all sweety boys too (probably closer to 100 of them, but I can't count that high). When family visits, they always comment that they've never seen such colorful chickens (probably since most people only have hens and 1-2 roosters). We only ever had 1 mean rooster that attacked us (oddly, he was a polish, probably just something wrong with his brain, poor thing).

tinybirds - You are right, it would be worth waiting for what I really want, my momentary lapse of judgement brings me back to the Chick Addiction Anonymous subject of our thread...

I want more chickens!

I love watching them as they grow up, weeding out the aggressive ones as they socially interact with each other.

Watching chickens is kind of like sitting at a cafe in a foreign country - enjoying listening to their conversations with each other even though you no idea what they're saying! Even better, you can stare at the chickens and they do not consider you rude!
