Did you tell her that you also sold eggs? Cuz if you get 26 chickens *this* week, you're gonna need to sell eggs to offset the feed bill.

Ok, I came on here for an intervention. I am already making up my chicken order list for next year already! But we will be expanding our coops this fall/winter, so I need to fill up space then, right! So my family really likes the green eggs from my EE's so I'm thinking of having a group of almost all EE's, but then that leaves space in my other coop! Soo.... here is my list for next year, for my first coop to fill in some space from moving my EE's out (Barnevelder Pullet, La Fleche Pullet, Rose Comb Leghorn Pullet, Speckled Sussex Pullet, and a Black Sex Link Pullet) and for my new coop we will be building this fall (10 EE Pullets, Spangled Russian Orloff Pullet (to add a little color

, 2 EE Bantams) Did I leave anyone out? I really like variety and need a few more white egg layers to add, since I only have one right now and she doesn't lay a nice bright white egg.

I love Easter Eggers, I only have one pullet but later on I would like to have a few more hens. I am going to major cull my mutt herd down this fall and then maybe if I have room (

) I'd like to get 6 Golden Buffs, and maybe 6 EEs or something, just for eggs. Since my purebred eggs are going to be off-limits for eating eggs!

My list for next year will be blue egg layers and I'd also like some rosecombed leghorns - I *love* my leghorns, but I have just the floppy combed white kind - they fared well last winter, but their combs are so huge now that I think we're definitely going to get some frostbite this year, no matter what. Love the huge white eggs! This year I wanted NN/Turkens and I got 'em!

OMG this CHicken Math thing is NOT a joke! I had 6 chickas that were saved fromt he soup pot because what is a mini farm without chickas??? (2 RIR, 2 Buff Orps, 2 Black sstars)...Then buff Orp, Ophelia, got taken out by a coon....went on a search for ONE BUFF Orp....found out that Orps come in SO MANY COLORS and had to buy a few....1 lav, 2 splash, 1 blue and one black roo after being told that he was from exhibition lines and was going to get BIG...and he would be a fine match color wise for my colorful girls....now I want MORE Orps, LOVE the cochins and am already looking at which chickas will go to freezer camp (one of my spalshes is FLIGHTY and not friendly... I like friendly chickas!!)

But think how much money you saved on chicks and shipping costs. (just to spend it on mite and lice treatments...but otherwise the chickens are FREE)
