Chicken with foot problem

Thank you, I know there could be a possibility of her just having deformities and/or health problems. Maybe we can help her to still have a happy life or at least for as long as we can.
The less stress the better for her.

When I was cleaning her feet last night it seemed like the "pads" of her feet had growths and in the crevices was some trapped poop/dirt. That's my best guess. The pads on the toes even have weird looking growths. So if by chance this is mites, would that only effect one leg and not the other? I could do the Vaseline just to see if it helps. Do we wrap her foot after application?

I do not think it is mites anymore but using something like this:
View media item 7895288 will not hurt her any and it it is mites it will kill them.
No need to wrap...wrapping can = stress.

I think that is a good attitude.

Hyperkeratosis of toe pads is seen in dogs.
Usually it’s genetically based and has to do with a over abundance of keratin formation by the body.

Sometimes it’s related to inability to use zinc.

Another kind is carried by a type of tropical/subtropical sand flies. -I hardly think you are having them in Tennessee.

Probably not a sand fly issue since she was in the brooder with a couple inches of pine shavings?

After soaking and cleaning she seemed to have less of a limp....but that might be hopeful thinking. If there's not a cure then maybe we can just keep it clean to help her feel better.

Update: we've been applying the spray vegetable oil since Monday once a day. We are trying to get her to soak her foot for at least 20 minutes each day and see if anything is softening up. She hates it and tries to run away. The black areas are super hard and seem like built up dead skin. It looks like it wants to lift away but I'm not forcing it. So I'm hoping that maybe this is mites... but it there's not improvement by Saturday then I'm guessing it's not. She's still limping and laying down alot.

You are doing a great job!

When I’ve soaked chickens feet I’ve filled up a bucket and sat on a little stool or milk crate with the bucket between my feet.
Then I sit the hen on my thighs and let her feet dangle in the water.
I’ve had good luck with this in the past. Maybe you could try it.
