We had 3 nights of freezin temps so I knew it needed to get done, finally finished though until next year! Do you have a lot to winterize? I had 5 chicken tractors and a coop, the rest of the coops are made winter ready 🤟
I have one run that is 20×16. So, not a lot. It just seems like it somedays. 😁 I am thinking this will be our last nice weekend. Oh well, I've winterized in the cold before.

Very nice. Do you use the chicken tractors all winter? I see you're in TN, so that's probably possible. Do you ever have issues with predators digging under your tractors?
Some of them have coops, the rest stay in the tractors. They work great all year round, just havta put up the plastic during winter but leave some opening for ventilation. We got a nice snow for a few days this past year and it didnt phase them. Some of the tractors have about a foot or more of welded wire around the bottom so nothing can crawl under, a few dont have wire and thr only thing thats gotten in is a armadillo lol, he ate the eggs thrn dug a new hole out. We have possums, coons, foxes, cyotes, and skunks on the property but theyve never tried to go under, I trap a handful every year.

Thats a nice size run! I hope to have a few big runs and sheds converted over the next year to make breeding easier. Where abouts do you stay? How cold do yall get in the winter?

I'm in Northern IN. It depends on the day, but sometimes we can get negative temps (windchills). We've had some good snow storms and always get lake effect snow.
Looks like averages are from 15 to 30 degrees. With an avg of 38" of snow for the season.

Holy moly haha yeah I couldnt deal with all that. Ive been to Indianapolis a few times and Rushville IN. Everytime it was too cold and had snow or ice, not for me lol.

So week 2 of ivermectin is finished. The coop with the outbreak had no sign of mites on the birds, so next week I'll only treat that coop then should be in the clear 🤞🤞 Now all thats left is racking the wine, I keep postponing it but dad is coming over tomorrow to help so thatll knock it out. Found a guy on ebay who lives by my inlaws, he sells a case of new wine bottles for $4 a case if I pick up, so Ima pick up 15 cases at Thanksgiving, Ima be set with wine bottles for this year and next year 😁

Got a few snaps of some females in the blue bantam pen tonight, tailsets are too high on most birds but the cock is gunna help balance it out. Gunna do a pen with my best white cock over my best blue girls and see what comes of it in spring 🤟

Nice. Set for winter or will there be more? 🥂
My dad used to make wine in a crock. I was too young to give it a try, but he liked it. 😊
