My buff orphington is 1 year old and recently was sick/injured. She had a limp and was treated for peritonitis. She has been on two medications for a week and a half and stopped them two days ago.

Today and a little last night we noticed her comb turning pink starting from the root. we’re not sure if it’s because she stopped the medication and it’s side effects or is something more serious is of concern.

please help! Very worried about our girl.
Attaching photos of what she looks like today vs how it usually is.

we also had a chicken pass of fatty liver syndrome back in December but it was caused by genetics they think. Her comb was stark white.

Hope someone will know what this is but may I just ask how her crop feels? Pale combs can indicate various things e.g. coccidiosis, internal worms (accompanied by reduced egg production and watery droppings), sour crop or an over all sign of anemia.

Something that does strike me are her (slightly) sunken eyes (and pale comb), given the medical history of your other chicken, this seems like a plausible possibility (to indeed be fatty liver syndrome).

Best of luck and what a cute chicken!

She hasn’t laid in a good two weeks since she’s been sick. Her crop right now is empty but our other chicken did have sour crop a few days ago.

Our other chicken also has been plucking her feathers so I was worried she was stressed as well.
As far as the sunken eyes I was worried it may have something to do with the medication she was on or something else.

She was on carprofen for pain and an antibiotic.

thanks for the help just wasn’t sure what’s wrong with her!
