Best Derp so far!

Po is so cute... So is Rangi... in fact, they are just all so adorable! My Red-Legged Partridges have 'pip'd and zip'd' (as you may say), and i'm hoping i'll have as much fun as you with your little cuties!

:highfive: Best of luck with your babies! :D

Oh, goodness, my babies are officially teenagers now! I heard the first voice cracking today! I'm not sure who it was, but I think it was one of the Leghorns (Roha or Tiwhiri).

With these stinking cats hanging around, I haven't been able to take the poor chickies outside unless I'm available to watch them the entire time they're out--I will not be taking any risks by leaving my beloved babies out without supervision. So since the brooder was getting so cramped and I haven't been able to stand the nasty mosquito swarms for long, I expanded the brooder. Now, they have about double the room and a perch to play on. :)

OMG! So cool... they are gonna start crowing loudly soon... Might be time to set up a pen in the garage.

I guess you kinda like the cats then? even though they are a bit of a nuisance. If it were me I'd be starting to build until my garden resembled a prison camp...

Well done with the brooder to, my Partridges are just in a big cardboard box lol.

I will admit that they are cute, but no, I'm not particularly fond of these cats. :/ They are nothing but an inconvenience for me. I would love to build something sturdy for the chicks to go in so I wouldn't have to worry about them, but at the moment, I can afford to either do that or expand the coop--coop expansion wins.

Oh, I will have pictures today! I forgot to upload them last night. The babies ( / teenagers) got to meet someone special yesterday! :D

Frou-Frou Meets the Chickies!

Yesterday, good ol' Frou-Frou noticed I was outside and wanted desperately to be with me, though I was in the fenced off area for the chicks. Well, my thought was, if anyone's going to meet these babies, Frou-Frou would be the best choice. So I moved the fence and let Frou'f hop on through. She followed me to the back where the chickies always stay--and then she saw them.

And she froze.

Hika Ma saw her just as she saw him. He wasn't sure what to do, so he stayed back and stared.

1000

Huka, seeing me return, started over toward me--and then she, too, spotted Frou-Frou.

1000

Rangi peeked around the corner of an old doghouse and stared in horror.

1000

Frou-Frou got this indignant look:

1000

She then turned her glare toward me.

1000

Meanwhile, Huka and Rangi found one another for support in this alarming time.

1000

Marama stayed behind a tree mostly, just peering out at Frou-Frou.

1000

Po stepped up to be the man of the brood, though he still kept his distance.

1000

Tiwhiri stretched out in alarm.

1000

Frou-Frou gasped. They were staring at her!!

1000

"Why did you do this to me?!"

1000

And none of them got close enough to Frou-Frou for a picture. Poor Frou'f was a little bit afraid of the chicks, so I moved her out of their fenced area and she honked at me until I finally took the babies in for the evening.
