I am soooooooo upset!! One of our dogs dragged chicky #18 out of the box and into the family room.. They have NEVER bothered the chicks before. I scooped him up, he was still breathing but very weak and had expelled his bowels which look very much like the yolk he had just absorbed. Dear Lord, not another one like Teacup!! I am so frazzled and exhausted from these past few days - I don't think I'm going to attempt hatches anymore than 12 at a time in the future. I'm a wreck!! And it's way too close to Christmas for this. I still have baking, cooking and wrapping to do tomorrow and the house is an absolute mess.

It's been a couple of hours since the "dog" incident and chicky #18 is looking better than he did. I'm shocked, I really thought he would have died pretty quickly after that happened. At least he and Teacup have each other while they are in the emergency room together! Good grief...

Thanks for letting me vent, I just needed to get that off my chest. Pouring myself a nice BIG glass of wine and then going to bed...

Prayers for Teacup and now... Chicken Nugget.

Ohhh Myyy

I think if it was an attack you wouldn't have got the chick back alive

CBarrett They are so cute. Hope they make it.

The last one that hatched was a barnvelder. Wish one of the other two BCMarans would pip. I have another americauna pipped. Crossing my fingers and watching that brooder.

so far I have one video of the 5th one (what looks like a lavender americauna) hatching. I tried to get a video of the Barnvelder buy my hand isn't as stable as my hubbies so it came out blurry. Should have stuck with photos every 30 seconds for a time lapse. Her sisters helped her some it went fast once she decided to come out.
