Well ban smoking in bar here in Ohio too.

I hate IT, even had a case where a woman was not able to smoke in her own house, or she could not have her children over.

Same where I work, and its a steel plant, wide open 30 ft ceilings. all because of the smoking ban.

Guess I will still smoke in my bar, and wait for the SMOKING COPS TO THROW ME IN JAIL. Just cant drink with out smoking. Gin and cigars, thats my mix drink.

I guess to me this is not a good comparison, if I'm sitting next to some one eating fast food.. it's not affecting my personal health as I eat my salad. The government isnt saying "Don't smoke" they are just saying you can't do it where others are affected by it or do it in designated areas. That said, in CA part of the law does allow business owner/operator's to have smoking in their facility.. they just have to be the only employee I believe I can say once your state get's over the shock.. your restaurants and bars will be booming again. There are plenty of them here, more being built all the time and there are plenty of smokers in CA, still plenty of nasty butts poured out by smokers in parking lots , etc everwhere.

I'll never forget having to SCRUB the walls of an old roommate that smoked in her room. When we moved out the furniture after her living there 3 months before we kicked her out... the walls were a NASTY Yellow color and you could tell exactly where the furniture was because of the yellow outline around it. That was only 3 months of her sneaking cigarettes. What business owner wants that to deal with in their business?

I know plenty of smokers but none of them even smoke in their own house or car and are just as happy with the law as the non-smokers. Work those lungs a little and walk outside to smoke

I smoke...I have no plans on stopping any time soon...I will not go into bars that are 'smoke free'....I stopping going out in some towns because of it...
Now mind you I don't go out alot...Maybe once every 2 or 3 months...So it's not like the businesses are loosing alot of money on me...But I refuse to go somewhere I CAN'T smoke...I also stopped going to resturants where they are 'smoke free'...

I can go a meal without smoking...that's fine, but I won't go into places where I CAN'T SMOKE IF I WANTED TO....
So the non-smokers are happy(obviously there are non smokers too who don't mind going into a smoking place)...What about the smokers....I bet my life that if the non smokers were told they COULDN'T go somewhere because they DIDN'T smoke that would go very far...In fact it'd probably fly over like a lead weight...
I am the person who finishes there cigarette outside WalMart...I am the person putting my cigarette out in the ashtrays at the store enterances...I will continue to do it....
I feel like telling the NON SMOKERS WHO COMPLAIN TO USE A DIFFERENT DOOR IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT...Maybe they can go to a different store if it bugs them that bad...Heck I have to do it if I WANT TO SMOKE...I have to find somewhere that DOES allow it, just incase I wanted a cigarette...

ok sorry about my rant....

While I agree that people should be able to smoke in certain area like bars and such, the problem with having it legal is that some people will refuse to put out a cig in a non-smoking area because it isn't illegal and having to toss someone out is a pain. I know to many smokers who think that their right to get high supersedes my right to breathe air to the point of insulting my "toughness", then again I'm highly allergic to both tobacco and the other ingredients in cigarettes.

I personally don't like cigarettes but they are an important part of our economy and many people's lifestyle... Its too bad there isn't a happy compromise.

Forgot to add....

I DON'T SMOKE IN MY HOUSE....I DON'T SMOKE IN THE CAR WITH THE KIDS...I DO SMOKE IN THE CAR WITHOUT THE KIDS THOUGH...I have no problems smoking outside at my house, but when I am out in a 'bar' I don't feel I shoudl have to....Maybe the NON smokers could all go stand outside breathing the 'fresh air' while the smokers are inside having a cigarette...Again I bet that would fly over like a lead weight....

what confuses me is that they raised the tax on cigarettes to use for various projects. in my opinion, they are hyping up how bad it is to smoke and everything to make everyone agree with the heavy taxes so they can keep the money rolling in. i mean, if the government really thought it was so bad, they would outright ban it, not use it as a money machine.
people seem far too eager to give up their rights these days, thinking its for their own good when really, its all about money.
