Choosing a breed to specialize in... Help!

I really like my FL Cuckoo Marans. They are very social and easy going but to go with what you have already you might want to consider Rhode Island Whites.
They are fast becoming a favorite bird here. Very Social and curious birds. If you breed them to your RIR roo you get a Red/White sex link chick.

Do y'all think birds like Marans and Welsummers are a fad? I like both very much, but it seems people are selling these birds for high prices based solely on their egg color, not their lineage. Is $20 a fair price for a hatchery Cuckoo Maran hen?

I have a friend with Welsummers and had considered hatching a batch when I can secure an incubator...

I'm amazed that non of the heritage, rare, endangered, what have you, lay white eggs.

I wonder what the story is? Why is America (and maybe other countries) fascinated with white eggs. You wont believe the looks I get when someone stops by for the first time and wants eggs. They look at my green, blue, and brown eggs (not so much the brown) and dang near walk out! Even after I explain that they are all the same inside they will take them, but rarely do I see them again.

STOP EGG RACISM!!!!

(sorry, back to the subject. Rant over)

And brown cows give chocolate milk. I think it's the same line of thought. Or non thought. Or maybe someone read "Green Eggs and Ham" when they were just young enough to absorb an image.
