I'm new to chickens. One of our chickens flew over a 12 ft fence and the dogs got to it. We were thinking about clipping their wings. How do we do this and is this an accepted practice?

We only have a 6 foot fence so we leave the wings unclipped so the chickens can get away from the dogs if they stray over the fence. Different problems lol.....
