Cloudy Days in the Coop - My Adventures with Chickens.

Pics
Hello, everyone!
These past few days have been rain, rain, rain - No surprise there! But, the sun did pop out yesterday for a few minutes, and I soaked it all up. Well, I shared a tiny bit with the chickens, but I’m guilty as charged - I’m a sun hogger. :D
Okay, all silliness aside, I let the chickens out to free-range yesterday for a bit under very strict supervision, and they certainly enjoyed it! They were running around in the grass, chasing mealworms, and flinging leaves into the air like confetti. :D Well, all of them, that is, except Mochi. She’s gone broody for the first time, and she’s very protective of her eggs. (Though, I think she could use a little more common sense of when’s a good time for hatching eggs. Cold, rainy weather isn’t that time in my book. :D ) However, I managed to coax her off her nest for some play time in the forest, and she very grumpily agreed. Now I have the tough job of getting her to not be broody. (Oh, and yes, she is already getting muddy since her bath) *Sigh* But other than that, things have been pretty calm in the coop. A few treats here, some snuggles with the hens there. Plus some free-ranging on occasion. Anyway, some pictures:

Glad you and your flock got to see some sun and outdoor time Lucy! 🌞 They look so happy and content. Mochi looks pretty vicious guarding her eggs. Beautiful forest Lucy, you live in such a gorgeous territory! We have a high of 22° F and light snow today. We need it! Enjoy your day Lucy and thanks for sharing! :hugs

Hello, Leyla! The sun was definitely nothing very and warm after the usual cold and rainy days, and my hens and I made sure to soak it all up. :D
Yay for the snow! :wee
I hope your day is full of peace and joy. :hugs

Sounds like the sun was burning with a cold flame! :D But at least you know it exists.

We didn't get much snow, an inch or so. Just enough to make mud. I am sure the trees and grass appreciated it though!

Enjoy your evening Lucy! :hugs

Yes, it was nice to see the bright ball in the sky and say, “Oh right, you actually exist!”
(Also, I have to apologize for the grammar in that other post. I’ve been writing so much, my brain has lost all understanding of the English language.:gig)
I’m so glad you at least got a little moisture over there, and I’m sure the plants were practically singing for joy. :D
Have a wonderful evening, Leyla! :hugs

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to let you know - I made my first picture albums on BYC recently, my favorite pictures from 2020. One album is for the pictures I took of the forest and the other is for my favorites of the chickens. They’re basically as a look back to 2020 and the highlights in pictures. :) Feel free to check them out! I’m still adding to them, but if one of your favorite pictures from this thread isn’t in the albums, let me know, so I can add them! Have a wonderful day, everyone! :hugs
