Cochin Bantams and Frizzle Cochin Bantams!!

your hen looks like mine- she hides her neck in her fluff like a turtle, I think she thinks she is hiding, and nobody can see
.
my hen's mom is a charcoal cochin bantam, the dad is a white frizzle.

we havea mixed flock and the last time we did a hatch and had a panty roo he was just a frustrated little man because the big girls would had one of him. It was sad. Pluss. I know we have two other roo in thus bach and I am suspecting another will be as well so out of 9 birds I have a4 roos to decide on. :-(

I, personally, keep the roo(s) that I think are going to give me the prettiest babies, and then rehome the rest. I don't have enough pens for very many roosters.

hen/pullet?
Beautiful bird!!!

That is our problem, space. I tried having more than one roo before and they didn't work out too well. We are currently roo-less as our last one passed a couple of weeks ago so we do want to keep one, however, we have primarly LF hens and my last experience with a banty roo with them, they just didn't respect him and would not give it up to him which made him a very frustrated young man. We'll just see how this works out. We know there are 2 other roos and 1 more possible for a total of 4 so someone (or two) will have to go.

While at a show yesterday, I checked out the Cochins. They were so big compared to mine! I asked the guy if they were bantam versions, and he said "yes". Mine (just got her) is just a tiny bit bigger than a Serama. She's 2 yrs old! Are they supposed to be that tiny, or the size of a Silkie? Thanks!

I understand. I have three (but one is at a friend's house) LF roos right now, and one (well, there are either two or four, but I'm only keeping one) Bantam Cochin cockerel chick coming up, and one of my three (possibly LF) Cochin chicks might be a cockerel and I'd keep him. So, I understand the problems with multiple roos; my lead roo sleeps in the coop with the girls, the other one sleep on an old grill on the back porch. The others are chicks, so they don't count as roos yet.
I've been free ranging, but I've got to start building pens, so I've got to rehome my lead roo in order to take the one my friend is holding for me. He's an EE and my lead roo is unnecessary since I won't be free ranging and he doesn't fit into my breeding program.
You said that the LF hens didn't respect the banty roo; was he the lead roo? If not, the banty part may not have been the problem; I have a LF jr. roo and the hens don't respect him either (being larger than they are he gets his way as long as the lead roo doesn't knock him off the hen though).
Just my two cents, oh, wait, if we account for inflation, that should be worth.....at least a dime.

Bantam Cochin hens are supposed to weigh about 28 oz. Mine is tiny too, like you said yours is. I haven't weighed her, but I don't think she's all of 28 oz soaking wet.
